Staying at the William Vale Hotel in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY was wonderful.
I was coming into NY for a meeting and decided to take a mini solo trip. I’m part of the Women Who Travel Facebook group and read all the time about women taking solo trips. So I decided it was time for a little “me time” in NY. (Stay tuned for a blog post dedicated to my 2-day adventure.) So I decided to stay at the William Vale Hotel in the Williamsburg section of town while my Brooklyn NY travel.
My meeting was in Brooklyn in the Dumbo area but I decided I wanted to stay some where else. We have been in that area a lot lately and I was looking to explore somewhere new. I usually start with Conde Nast Traveler for suggestions. The William Vale popped up as a fan favorite, and no wonder – it’s Awesome! As a travel photographer and a travel blogger I’ve seen a lot of hotels. And a gorgeous hotel with views of New York City from the balcony, a rooftop deck, amazing pool and superb staff, was the Bees Knees!
Once I saw the cute little room and balcony I was sold
I booked with our American Express Platinum card to earn those extra bonus points and to be eligible for any upgrades. My room was on the 17th floor (they upgraded me to a higher floor meaning a further view) and it was the perfect size and layout – even if my husband had joined me there would be plenty of room. I loved having the chaise lounge to do a little evening reading. The bathroom was stocked with my favorite L’Occitane and the “flavor” was Verbana. This one was new to me so I was excited to try it!
I ventured up to the rooftop lounge to take in the views. Being a guest you take a “hotel only” elevator, avoiding the line that can form to get up there. I’m not much of a drinker so to me it was all about the views of the city and they didn’t disappoint. It was a bit past lunch time and I wanted to get a quick bite before exploring all Williamsburg had to offer. I ate at Leuca which is attached to the hotel but not affiliated with it. It was nice having such a great restaurant so close. I sat at the bar and ordered from their mid day menu and spent my time talking with the waiters while enjoying my burrata.
Later I lingered by the pool eating watermelon with spices, reading. I got to enjoy the sunshine and cool off in the pool. This is the perfect setting for relaxing and lounging which was a BIG part of my plans! If Al (my husband) had been with me, we may have rented one of the cabanas (maybe next time!)
The Westlight at night can’t be beat
The sun setting over the city is a perfect place for a drink and even dinner if you want. I went to a variety of places to eat which will be in an upcoming blog about “Eating my way through Williamsburg Brooklyn! (coming soon).
I couldn’t have been more pleased with the William Vale. The location is perfect and convenient and the setting simply beautiful. I found plenty of cool spaces to take in the city and relax at the same time. This was the perfect place to stay during my mini solo NY trip.
Have you ever stayed at the William Vale Hotel? Or maybe somewhere different in the Williamsburg section during your NY travels? I would love to know for our next trip where you think are great Brooklyn hotels to stay.
